A new obligation

A contact form is no longer enough

Article 11a of directive 2011/83/EU, introduced by directive 2023/2673, requires that the consumer be given a withdrawal function in the same interface where they concluded the contract. It has to be easy to find, easy to understand and end with a confirmation on a durable medium. A printable PDF, an e-mail address in the terms or an ordinary contact form do not meet that.

An important difference

This is not a returns plugin

Popular RMA plugins work on the model of “the customer asks, the store approves”. Article 11a means something else: withdrawal is a unilateral declaration by the consumerwhich the store does not approve but accepts, dates and confirms. The returns module you already have therefore most likely does not close this obligation.

Frequently asked questions

Does this obligation apply to my store?

If you let consumers conclude contracts online and they have a right of withdrawal, then yes. The rule arrived through a directive on financial services, but the withdrawal function in article 11a covers contracts concluded through an online interface broadly. If you are unsure about your own situation, consult a lawyer. We provide a tool, not legal advice.

I already have a returns plugin. Is that not enough?

Usually not. RMA plugins handle a request that the store approves. Article 11a requires accepting a unilateral declaration by the consumer together with a confirmation on a durable medium. That is a different process and different evidence.

Do I need WooCommerce?

No. The plugin runs on any WordPress. With WooCommerce you additionally get buttons on orders, loading of the line items and a link in the store e-mails.

Does the customer need an account?

No. The form works for guests, because a consumer has to be able to withdraw whether or not they created an account.

Can the look and the wording be changed?

Yes. You set the colours with a preset or your own values, with a live preview. You edit the wording and e-mail templates in the panel, and you can override whole templates in your theme.

How do updates work?

Once the key is activated, new versions appear under “Plugins → Installed Plugins” and you install them with one click, like any other plugin.

How many sites can one purchase cover?

It depends on the package: 24 € means one activation, 46 € means three. You can release any activation at any time in the plugin panel and move it to another site. Do you need more than three? Write to us and we will work something out.
